Welcome to the East TN Chapter of AFIO
The Eastern Tennessee Chapter of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers (AFIO) was established in Eastern Tennessee in 2022 (known as the “ETNAFIO”). The ETNAFIO is directed to the same objective as the national AFIO, which was established as a non-profit, non-partisan advocacy organization founded in 1975 by a Central Intelligence Agency career officer.
The ETNAFIO objectives include advancing public and community leaders’ understanding of the importance of intelligence to United States (U.S.) national security, supporting the academic teaching of intelligence related topics at universities and schools; reviewing and providing data bases of intelligence-related literature; and providing responsible commentaries on open-source information concerning national intelligence issues, organizations, and activities.
Chapter Bounds
The East TN Chapter of AFIO is centered on West Knoxville and spans out to a minimum of 75 miles. National members without chapter affiliation beyond this range in Tennessee, North Carolina, and Northern Georgia are encouraged to reach out and join our chapter.
